Investoivan sikatilan talous

Abstract

Suomen liityttyä EU:iin investoinnit sikatalouteen ovat lisääntyneet. Tähän ovat vaikuttaneet sikatalouden kansallinen investointituki sekä maksettavat siirtymäkauden tuet. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan sikatalouden kansallista investointitukea hakeneiden tilojen investointeja ja talouden kehitttymistä. Tilojen talouden kehittymistä tarkastellaan rahoitustukihakemusten taloussuunnitelmien perusteella. Tarkastelujaksona ovat vuodet 1996-2001. Sianlihan ja porsaan hintana käytetään Tanskan arvioitua hintatasoa. Tutkimusaineiston perusteella investoivat sikatilat ovat suurempia kuin sikatilat keskimäärin. Investoivilla tiloilla on jo ennestään velkaa enemmän kuin muilla. Tuotantokapasiteetti tiloilla kasvaa investoinnin vaikutuksesta keskimäärin kaksinkertaiseksi. Kaikissa tuotatantolinjoissa suuret tilat selviävät investoinnin aiheuttamista kustannuksista pieniä tiloja paremmin. Parhaat selviytyimismahdollisuudet näyttää olevan yhdistelmätuotannossa. EU:n yhteismarkkinoilla toimivilta lihantuottajilta edellytetään jatkuvaa kilpailukyvystä huolehtimista. Investoinneilla tähdätään tuotantokustannusten alentamiseen ja toimeentulon turvaamiseen. Investointipäätöksiä tehdään toimintaympäristössä, jonka merkittävimpiä tekijöitä ovat sovellettava maatalouspolitiikka sekä sianlihan hintakehitys.

The study screens the investments carried out in pig production in the years 1995-1999. Finance plans of investments were examined. The economy of investing pig farms was evaluated by using the measures of liquidity, profitability and solvency. The income resulting from pig production was determined by forecasting the prices of pork and piglet. The forecasts for pork and piglet were based on the past developments in Denmark. According to the results, investing farms are larger than an average pig farm in Finland. The farmers are younger, and have more agricultural debts even before the investment than pig meat producers on average. Production capacity on the investing farms doubles on average. Investment cost is on average FIM 720 000. 30 % of the investment cost is financed by the investing farms themselves. Bigger farms have better liquidity than smaller ones. The highest profitability is projected for producers that produce piglets and fattens them as well. In the combined production, farms are able to adjust to uncertainty due to the price variation better than in specialised piglet production and pig fattening. According to the projections, pig fattening will be unprofitable at the end of the transitional period, year 2000. Changes in pig meat price and profitability of pig fattening affect the profitability of piglet production.
