Resource  Technology  '9B  Nordic  Symposium  was  held on  June 8-12 at Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland.  The  
event  was  organised  by  The  Finnish Forest  Research Institute,  The Arctic Centre, The Geological  Survey  of 
Finland,  The Forest and  Park Service,  and  The Resource  Technology  Institute (RTI).  The symposium  comprised  
four  keynote  addresses,  15 sessions,  one  workshop,  and  a  commercial exhibition. The symposium  was  attended 
by  200  participants  from 26  countries. The proceedings  consist  of  68  papers or  abstracts,  including  the oral  
presentations  given  at the symposium,  and a few papers submitted by scientists  who were  unable to  attend. 
The articles  cover  various aspects  of  information technology  and  natural resources,  with a  special  emphasis  
on  applications  based  on  the Internet. The scientific  committee of  RT'9B peer-reviewed  the submitted abstracts  
and  accepted  the topics to  be  covered  in symposium.  Each author is responsible  for  the final article included 
in the proceedings.

RT'9B Proceedings  are  published  in PDF-format.  They  can  be viewed by  Adobe Acrobat Reader,  which is 
also provided  on the CD-ROM.  
If  you have Adobe Acrobat  Reader 4.0 installed on  your computer the application  will start  automati  
cally  when the CD-ROM is  inserted into the CD-ROM drive. You can  also  start the CD by double clicking  
the "start.pdf'  file on  the root  directory  of  the CD.  
If  you  don't have Adobe Acrobat 4.0 + Search  installed  on  your computer you  can  install it  from the 
READER directory  of  the CD by  clicking  ACROREAD.EXE.  Acrobat Reader + Search is  an expanded  
version of  Acrobat Reader that lets you search  a  collection of  PDF files  on a CD-ROM. 
The proceedings  are organized  by  sessions.  Click  the Session bookmarks  to browse the papers presented  at 
the RT'9B Symposium.  You can  search  the whole proceedings  by  using the Search  button that appears  on 
the opening  page. Use  toolbar buttons or  respective  menus to  navigate  within a  single  document or  between 
views  in different documents. The triangle  icons  move  the view within the document and  arrows  between 
views. You may have to click  the left arrow  button several  times to return  to the bookmarks  view. You can  
restart from cover page by  opening  start.pdf  fom the root  directory  of  the CD.

application's  Help  -feature.
