Resource Technology '9B Nordic Symposium was held on June 8-12 at Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland. The event was organised by The Finnish Forest Research Institute, The Arctic Centre, The Geological Survey of Finland, The Forest and Park Service, and The Resource Technology Institute (RTI). The symposium comprised four keynote addresses, 15 sessions, one workshop, and a commercial exhibition. The symposium was attended by 200 participants from 26 countries. The proceedings consist of 68 papers or abstracts, including the oral presentations given at the symposium, and a few papers submitted by scientists who were unable to attend. The articles cover various aspects of information technology and natural resources, with a special emphasis on applications based on the Internet. The scientific committee of RT'9B peer-reviewed the submitted abstracts and accepted the topics to be covered in symposium. Each author is responsible for the final article included in the proceedings.
