Tuotannollisen yhteistyön vaikutus maatilan kannattavuuteen

Abstract

Julkaisun toisessa artikkelissa on verrattu yhteistyötä harjoittavien kirjanpitotilojen kannattavuutta kuvaavia tunnuslukuja tilaryhmään, johon kuuluneet tilat eivät harjoittaneet yhteistyötä. Yhteistyötiloilla kaikki tunnusluvut osoittautuivat paremmiksi kuin vertailuryhmässä, joskaan erot eivät olleet kovin suuria. Yhteistyötä harjoittavat maitotilat tuottivat maitoa noin 20 p/l halvemmalla kuin vertailuryhmän tilat. Eniten yhteistyöstä hyötyivät pienten maitotilojen viljelijät. Viljantuotannossa yhteistyötilojen tuotantokustannus oli keskimäärin 3 p/kg alempi kuin muilla tiloilla. Myös viljatilojen yhteistyöstä saama hyöty oli sitä suurempi, mitä pienemmästä tilasta oli kysymys. Yhteistyötä harjoittavat maitotilat saavuttivat saman työansion kuin vertailuryhmän tilat mutta pienemmällä työtuntimäärällä. Yhteistyötä harjoittavat tilat eivät eronneet vertailuryhmän tiloista tilakoon tai viljelijän iän perusteella. Sitä vastoin eroja löytyi asenteista yhteistyötä kohtaan. Tärkeimmäksi syyksi siihen, miksi tila ei ollut mukana yhteistyössä vertailutilat ilmoittivat, että yhteistyötä ei tarvita (42 %) ja että mahdolliset yhteistyökumppanit sijaitsevat liian kaukana (18 %). Yhteistyötilat puolestaan pitivät ongelmallisimpana seikkana joustamista töiden ajoituksessa (46 %) sekä koneiden korjausta ja huoltoa (15 %). Ongelmista huolimatta 28 % yhteistyötiloista aikoi kuitenkin hankkia myös tulevaisuudessa yhteisiä koneita, kun taas vertailuryhmän viljelijät eivät muutamia poikkeuksia lukuun ottamatta aikoneet ryhtyä yhteistyöhön tulevaisuudessakaan

The purpose of the study is to find out the effects of cooperation in the production between farms on the profitability of dairy and cereal farms. Questionnaires were sent to farms included in the profitability bookkeeping concerning the forms of cooperation between farms and farmers opinions on the cooperation. On the basis of this farms engaged in cooperation were selected, and farms with no cooperation with other farms were used as the reference group. The effects of cooperation on the economy of farms is examined on the basis of key ratios indicating the profitability of farms obtained from the bookkeeping data. The key ratios compared are profitability coefficient, farm surplus (including the return on labour and own capital), production costs, return on capital and earnings. All key ratios indicating profitability are higher on farms engaged in cooperation than in the reference group. However, the differences are not statistically significant and there is a great deal of variation between farms. On dairy farms farmers practising cooperation obtained the same earnings by means of fewer hours of labour than farmers in the reference group. Especially on relatively small dairy farms engaged in cooperation the production cost of milk was lower than in the reference group, but the differences in the production costs decrease as the farm size grows. On farms practising cooperation the interest demand on capital was smaller but they still achieved a higher business surplus (return on labour and capital) than farms in the reference group. Farmers having cooperation with other farms plan to continue this in the future, too. Instead, among the other farmers there is very little interest in starting any form of cooperation. The main reason for the lack of cooperation is the fact that farmers feel no need for this. According to farmers practising cooperation, the most difficult problem involved is timing, because work cannot always be completed at the best possible time.
